Avocado Smoothie

This smoothie may sound uber nasty, but I promise it's not. You must taste it to believe it. Your kids won't even know they are getting a healthy drink, full of good-for-you fats.

1 large peeled and pitted avocado
1 cup milk
1 cup ice cups
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

In a blender, combine all ingredients until smooth.

Makes 3 servings.

Chocolate-Strawberry Smoothies

2 cups light chocolate soymilk (8th Continent is my personal fav.)
1 medium banana, cut into chunks
2 cups (10 oz) bag of frozen unsweetened strawberries

Place the soymilk, banana and strawberries in a blender.
Blend until smooth.

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 bananas, chopped and frozen (frozen bananas make the smoothie ice cold and frothy)
1/4 c peanut butter
1 c milk (can use regular milk, almond or soy... all taste great)
1/2 tsp honey
1 scoop protein powder (optional)

Combine all ingredients in blender.
Blend until smooth.
Garnish with a little chocolate syrup on top for an extra yummy treat.

Kiwifruit Pear Smoothie

8 oz plain yogurt (vanilla is good too)
1 cup pears, peeled & diced
1 banana, peeled & cut into chunks
1/4 cup honey
1 cup ice cubes
6 kiwifruits

Combine yogurt, pears, bananas and honey in blender. Pulse until smooth. Add ice cubes one at a time and process until smooth. Slice each kiwifruit in half and spoon fruit out into blender. Pulse just until blended.

I add 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder if I am drinking as a meal.

Makes 4 servings

Jamie's Protein Fruit Smoothie

6 oz. light vanilla yogurt
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
fruit of your choice (fresh or frozen)

Blend in the blender until everything is mixed well. Super easy and super yummy! Way better than just a nasty, plain protein shake. :)

(If I am making it for breakfast, I like to top it with granola...yummy!)
